Love to read

Dorothy Koomson: The Ice Cream Girls

Takakansi:

As teenagers Poppy Carlisle and Serena Gorringe were the only witnesses to a tragic event. Amid heated public debate, the two seemingly glamorous teens were dubbed ‘The Ice Cream Girls’ by the press and were dealt with by the courts.

Years later, having led very different lives, Poppy is keen to set the record straight about what really happened, while Serena wants no one in her present to find out about her past. But some secrets will not stay buried – and if theirs is revealed, everything will become a living hell all over again . . .

Gripping, thought-provoking and heart-warming, The Ice Cream Girls will make you wonder if you can ever truly know the people you love.

Lindsay Kelk: I Heart Paris

Takakansi:

Angela is in the City of Love - but her own love life is heading for trouble...Angela Clark is a British girl living the dream in fabulous New York. But she's never been to the romantic capital of the world - Paris. So when her lead singer boyfriend Alex suggests a trip there and she is asked to write insider's guide to the hip city - she jumps at the chance! Meandering along charming streets, perusing Paris's hot destinations - all in the name of research - Angela decides she could get used to the joie de vivre of Paris. But there's something awry, Angela soon realises that evil forces are at work, conspiring to sabotage her big break! And when she spots Alex having a tete-a-tete with his ex in a Paris bar - without best friend Jenny to counsel her - Angela begins to crumble. With London and her old life only a train journey away - now is the time to decide if she should stay and face the music or return to the safety of home.

Sofi Oksanen: Purge

Takakansi:

She could see the leather coat out of the corner of her eye. It squeaked when he moved. He chuckled, his ears red. His chrome-tanned boots shone, although the road was dusty and he wasn’t German. Should she run?”

"She knew men like these. Men with that kind of posture, men who know how to punish a woman, and, they were here to get a woman, and punish her. People with an insolent bearing, who smile broadly with gold teeth, stuffed into their uniforms, with their cap visors level, knowing that no one can deny them what they want. The kind of people who wear boots to trample anyone they want to.

Lauren Oliver: Before I Fall

Takakansi:

What if you had only one day to live? What would you do? Who would you kiss? And how far would you go to save your own life?

Samantha Kingston has it all—looks, popularity, the perfect boyfriend. Friday, February 12th should be just another day in her charmed life. Instead, it’s her last. The catch: Samantha still wakes up the next morning. In fact, she re-lives the last day of her life seven times, until she realizes that by making even the slightest changes, she may hold more power than she had ever imagined.

Lisa Hilton: The House with Blue Shutters

Takakansi:

Castroux, France, 1939. In a bare farmhouse on a windswept plain above the village, Oriane, orphaned at thirteen, lives in desperate poverty. When the Germans invade, Oriane finds work in a Nazi barracks while her fiance joins the Resistance. Their simple world is thrown into chaos. Casual brutality is common; rebellion is imminent; revenge will be swift and severe.
Castroux, France, 2000. In an idyllic gite overlooking the quaint village church, British expat Aisling frets about her chocolate parfait, determined to impress her brother-in-law's glamorous fiancee Claudia. But Claudia couldn't care less about chocolate parfait. She's pregnant by another man and terrified of the future. She confides only in an elderly neighbour, Oriane, and discovers that she too once carried a shameful secret - from which she still bears the scars.
The House with Blue Shutters - a place that has witnessed the horrors of wartime, the petty concerns of peacetime, and the secrets that bind past and present. A place where history echoes off every wall ...

Eli just sopivaa luettavaa mulle.
